Line 1 History, Facts & Expansion

The Delhi–Meerut RRTS is India's first high-speed regional rapid transit system, designed to efficiently connect Delhi with Meerut.

Line 1 is part of the Delhi–Meerut RRTS metro network, a rapid transit system in the Indian city of Meerut.

From January 2025, the 55 km (34.18 mi) long New Ashok Nagar – Meerut South section is operational.

It is operated by DB RRTS Operations India, a subsidiary of Germany's Deutsche Bahn.

In the future, the Meerut Metro will be integrated with the RRTS, enhancing regional connectivity, and similar RRTS projects such as the Lucknow–Kanpur RRTS are under development.
