About Birla Mandir
Birla Mandir is one of the major pilgrimage centers of Bhopal, situated atop the Arera hills and surrounded by well-maintained lawns with fountains and abundant ornamental and blooming plants. The temple complex houses a revered shrine of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and the sacred Lakshmi-Narayan temple.
The temple is built and maintained by the famous Birla family. There is a Birla Museum near Laxmi Narayan Mandir which has impressive 12th century sculptures from Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the biggest temples of Bhopal with a serene atmosphere and lots of greenery and open space.
Architecture of Birla Mandir
The temple structure is sandy-yellow in color with an area of about 7-8 acres. The façade of the structure is a huge bastion, while extensive lawns surround the complex from the other side. The entrance of this temple is through a magnificent archway.
