Jain Temple of Pawapuri, Patna

Jal Mandir is located in Nalanda district of Bihar. It is believed to be the place where Lord Mahavira, the 24th Jain Tirthankar, attained Parinirvana. The temple was built by King Nandivardhana, the elder brother of Mahavira. It is the most important pilgrimage place for Jains. The temple is built inside a pond filled with red colored lotus flowers which is made of pristine white marble.

It is one of the five main temples of Pavapuri, bearing the "Charan Paduka" or the footprints of Mahavira. Many people visit the temple everyday.

1. This temple is dedicated to Mahavira and is very sacred place for Jains.
2. From November to January, you can see a lot of migratory birds and lotus in the lake, which is a spectacular sight.
3. The beauty of this place is that the temple is surrounded by a man-made lake and is made of white marble and is at its peak at sunset.
4. The temple is the only attraction, yet there are huge fish in the lake that eat the bait that you can buy to give to the fish.
