- The Blue Line of the Ahmedabad Metro, known as Line 1, is part of the Ahmedabad Metro. The line runs from Vastral Gam in the eastern part of the city to Thaltej Gam in the western part.
- It consists of 18 metro stations (including two under construction), starting from Vastral Gam and ending at Thaltej Gam. It has 4 underground stations, while the elevated section has 14 elevated stations.
- It covers a distance of approximately 21.23 kilometers.
- The Blue Line of the Ahmedabad Metro began its operations on 4 March 2019. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Old High Court station serves as an interchange station for the Blue Line and the Red Line.
Ahmedabad Metro Blue Line Extension in Phase 3
The Blue Line of the Ahmedabad Metro currently runs from Thaltej Gam to Vasna and is planned to be extended further as part of Phase-3. Under this extension, the Blue Line is proposed to be extended by about 8 km from Thaltej Gam to Godhavi.
The entire route will be elevated and will include new stations to connect the western and rapidly developing areas of the city to the metro network. This extension will provide direct metro connection to SG Highway and surrounding residential-commercial areas. Its estimated cost is said to be around ₹ 1,800 crore and work is underway on the detailed project report (DPR). If the approval of the central and state government is received on time, the project is targeted to be completed by 2030–2031.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday approved the extension of the existing North-South corridor of the Ahmedabad Metro from GIFT City to Shahapur. According to an official statement, the proposed extension will be 3.33 kilometers long and will include three elevated stations. The project is expected to be completed in about four years at an estimated cost of ₹1,067.35 crore. The extension is estimated to benefit approximately 23,702 passengers by 2029, and the daily ridership will increase to approximately 58,059 by 2041.
Passengers travelling between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will soon benefit from longer Metro operating hours, as the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMC) announced the extension of services on several corridors from Monday (May 18). The decision is expected to bring major relief to office workers, students and commuters travelling late in the evening, especially in the rapidly expanding Gandhinagar-GIFT City area. The revised schedule has been released after the Gujarat Cabinet approved extending Metro operations till 11 pm, as part of a broader effort to encourage greater use of public transport and reduce dependence on private vehicles amid fuel conservation concerns.

The Gujarat government has ordered 34 new metro train sets for the Ahmedabad and Surat Metro Rail projects. Of the total order, 10 train sets are for the Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 project, while 24 will be deployed for the upcoming Surat Metro system. These train sets are being manufactured at the Titagarh manufacturing unit in Kolkata. Officials said the purchase is part of efforts to strengthen public transport infrastructure in Gujarat and is expected to boost employment and skill development in the manufacturing sector, as well as reduce dependence on imports.
