  • The Blue Line of the Ahmedabad Metro, known as Line 1, is part of the Ahmedabad Metro. The line runs from Vastral Gam in the eastern part of the city to Thaltej Gam in the western part.
  • It consists of 18 metro stations (including two under construction), starting from Vastral Gam and ending at Thaltej Gam. It has 4 underground stations, while the elevated section has 14 elevated stations.
  • It covers a distance of approximately 21.23 kilometers.
  • The Blue Line of the Ahmedabad Metro began its operations on 4 March 2019. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Ltd on Sunday said it is planning to launch the metro rail link between Narendra Modi Stadium, Mahatma Mandir and Gift City in May-June this year after getting mandatory permissions. GMRC conducted the trial run of the metro between Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) and Gujarat International Finance-Tech City (GIFT City) as part of Phase-2 of the metro project.

The operation of Metro in Ahmedabad has completed 1 year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the Ahmedabad Metro on 30 October. In the last 12 months since the metro operation, many achievements have been made. No major technical glitches were encountered on the metro network in the 12 months of operation. Metro also increased its ridership every month. Between September last year and September 28, 2023, 1.86 crore passengers traveled by metro. The metro earned Rs 28 crore in the last 12 months of operation.

Two additional trains will be operated throughout the day on both the East-West and North-South corridors in Ahmedabad Metro. The first train will leave at 6:20 am and the second train will leave at 6:40 am. Thereafter, from 7:00 am, metro services will operate as usual at 12 minute intervals. Metro train services are currently operating in Ahmedabad on both the East-West and North-South corridors throughout the day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM at 12 minute intervals.
