Ahmedabad Metro Blue Line Extension in Phase 2
The Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project plans to extend the Blue Line further northwards to connect Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar with a branch line to GIFT City. This extension is expected to cover an additional distance of 18.522 km, including 1 branch/spur line to GIFT City.

The Ahmedabad Metro project achieved a significant milestone as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off services on the remaining 5 km section of Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 between Secretariat and Mahatma Mandir. The inauguration of this section marks the completion of Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2. Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro comprises the northern extension of the existing Line 2 (Red Line) of Phase 1. This northern extension stretches 22.8 km from Motera station to Mahatma Mandir and has 20 stations. Earlier, the 17.3 km section between Motera Stadium and Secretariat was operational. Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro also includes the operational eastern section of this line.
