Yellow History, Facts & Expansion
- The Yellow Line is part of the Ahmedabad Metro's Phase II expansion, connecting Ahmedabad city to Gandhinagar.
- It extends the existing North-South Corridor from Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, with a total length of approximately 23.84 kilometres.
- The Yellow Line has both elevated and underground sections and a total of 21 stations. Currently, 16 stations are operational, and the remaining are under construction.
- The foundation stone for the second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro, which includes the Yellow Line, was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 18, 2021.
- Trial runs began in February 2024, and the first section from Sector 1 to GNLU was inaugurated on September 16, 2024. The line was opened to the public on September 17, 2024.
- Seven new stations on the Yellow Line opened to the public on 27 April 2025.
- Juna Koba and Koba Gam stations opened on 28 September 2025.
