Rapid Metro Line 1 Extension Plan
The Rapid Metro Line 1 extension is envisioned to transform Gurugram\'s light metro network by adding a 28.5-km elevated loop between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City, with 27 stations and seamless interchanges with both the Delhi Metro and the existing Rapid Metro. The project is estimated to cost ₹5,452 crore and construction work began in 2025, with the entire project targeted for completion by 2029, although earlier deadlines have also been set.The extension will start from the Millennium City Centre metro station and move towards Cyber City, passing through major areas like old Gurgaon. The project is being implemented by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), a special purpose vehicle set up by the Haryana government.

At a review meeting chaired by D.S. Dhesi, Principal Advisor, Urban Development Department, Government of Haryana, it was decided that the depot would be constructed at a cost of over ₹400 crore. GMRL officials stated that they would begin laying concrete viaducts on metro pillars from Sector 44 to Subhash Chowk by May this year. According to GMRL officials, the old Gurugram Metro line will be connected to the Gurugram Metro via a two-kilometer-long auxiliary line from Sector 5 to Gurugram Railway Station. An interchange station will be constructed in Sector 5, connecting the proposed Bhondsi Metro line and the old Gurugram Metro.
