Rapid Metro Line 1 Extension Plan

The Rapid Metro Line 1 extension will cover a total distance of 28.5 km and will include 27 elevated stations. The project is estimated to cost ₹5,452 crore and construction is expected to begin by May 1, 2025. The extension will start from the Millennium City Centre metro station and move towards Cyber ​​City, passing through major areas like old Gurgaon. The project is being executed by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), a special purpose vehicle set up by the Haryana government.

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) board has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for the new metro line connecting Sector 56 of Gurugram to Pachgaon. The metro line will connect major areas like Golf Course Extension Road, Southern Peripheral Road, Central Peripheral Road, Dwarka Expressway and developing areas of Manesar Industrial Area.

There will be a meeting of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) board on Tuesday. The detail design contract (DDC) can be approved in this. If the DDC is finalized in the board, then the work of metro construction will be able to proceed at a fast pace. Geo testing i.e. soil testing for track construction has been completed by the corporation for running the metro in the Old City. The corporation has also received its report. In this, the green signal has been given to the construction of pillars. Now HMRTC has to do the detail design contract (DDC).

The Haryana State Government has taken an important step towards enhancing urban transit with the decision to set up a new entity, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited. In an announcement made during the 53rd meeting of the Board of Directors of HMRTC in Chandigarh, Chief Secretary of Haryana and Chairman of HMRTC, Sanjeev Kaushal disclosed the significant development in the expansion of the Metro Rail network. The preparatory work for the proposed Metro extension covering a distance of about 25 km from Ballabhgarh to Palwal has already started. Significant techno-feasibility study for this extension has been awarded to RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Services).
