About Shah Najaf Imambara
The history of Shah Najaf Imambara is linked to the Shia Muslim faith and the royal heritage of the Nawabs of Awadh. This holy place is the eternal resting place of Nawab Ghazi-ud-din Haider, the third Nawab of Awadh, and holds special significance for commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, a revered figure in Shia Islam. The Imambara was built in 1818 by Nawab Ghazi-ud-din Haider, the last Nawab Wazir and first king of the state of Awadh from 1818 to 1827.
