Bhoj Metro Orange Line Extension in Phase II

The Bhoj Metro Orange Line extension in Bhopal is part of Phase II, stretching from Karond Circle to AIIMS with 16 stations. It aims to connect major areas of the city. A priority section (from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS) is expected to be operational soon, although there are some delays. The total planned length of the entire line is approximately 14.99 km. This extension is under the management of the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), which aims to improve Bhopal's rapid transit system. Plans include both elevated and underground sections.

Currently, with only one train running between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS, passengers are facing long waits of up to 75 minutes. The Bhopal Metro will begin commercial operations on December 21st. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate virtually in the event. Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the metro. He will tour Bhopal in a three-coach metro decorated with flowers. People will be able to travel for free in the first week. The date of commercial operations may also change. Instead of December 21st, the metro may start on December 20th. However, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has already stated that the metro will be inaugurated on December 21st at the Khajuraho Convention Center. Prior to this, discussions are underway between the BJP organization, the government, and officials regarding the commercial operation program.
