Kolkata Metro will operate extra services on the Blue Line on December 31st for New Year's Eve revelers. On New Year's Eve, eight special services will run on the Blue Line after 9:40 PM. These include four northbound and four southbound trains. These extra services will run between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram. From south to Shahid Khudiram, the extra trains will depart at 9:40 PM, 9:52 PM, 10:05 PM, and 10:18 PM. In the other direction, from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar, the trains are scheduled for 9:54 PM, 10:04 PM, and 10:17 PM. Additionally, a special service will run from Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 10:30 PM, providing an extra option for northbound passengers. All eight special services will commence after 9:40 PM, extending the Blue Line's operating hours for the day.

Kolkata Metro passengers will get direct connectivity from Jai Hind Bimanbandar (Airport) station to Shahid Khudiram station (New Garia) via Noapara from December 15, a Metro Railway spokesperson said on Saturday. According to media reports, the move will benefit those travelling to the city's airport.

The Kolkata Metro has announced that the Purple Line will now operate on Saturdays as well. This new line is part of a broader expansion of services across the metro network, aimed at better meeting the needs of commuters in the city. The Kolkata Metro is improving public transport by running 40 trains at 21-minute intervals on the Purple Line on Saturdays. The Green Line will also see the introduction of 16 additional trains, taking the total to 202 trains, while the Yellow Line will have 120 trains on weekdays. The Orange Line aims to operate six days a week until new rakes arrive in the future.

A major hurdle in the construction of the Kolkata Metro's Purple Line (Joka-Park Street) was resolved after the project's implementing agency, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), and the Consulate General of Nepal signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to exchange land parcels. Under the agreement, 409.53 sq. metres of land owned by the Consulate General of Nepal will be exchanged with 526.34 sq. metres of adjoining Metro Railway land, facilitating the construction of a ramp between Mominpur and Kidderpore for the proposed Mominpur-Esplanade underground section.

Kolkata Metro has launched an advanced mobile app, 'Amar Kolkata Metro', enabling passengers to digitally plan their routes, purchase tickets, and recharge their smart cards. This move aims to provide a seamless, faster, and cashless travel experience, in line with the Digital India initiative and the metro's ongoing modernization efforts.
