Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL) conducted the first successful trial run through the westbound tunnel of the Kolkata Metro's Green Line in West Bengal, India, on the Sealdah-Esplanade section, which has only one station, Bowbazar. Once operational, the Sealdah-Esplanade section is expected to provide an advanced transport system for the people of Kolkata and its suburbs. It helps people to reach Kolkata and surrounding areas from Sealdah and Howrah.
◷ 2025-01-22 | ☍ Hindustan SamacharCommunication-based train control signalling work for the entire Howrah Maidan to Sector V section of Kolkata Metro's East-West Metro began on 12 January 2025, a landmark step towards connecting Howrah to Sealdah, two of the busiest stations of Eastern Railway. The East-West Metro, also known as the Green Line, will save around 90 minutes for daily commuters.

The last train from New Garia to Dum Dum (Blue Line) will run at 11 pm instead of 10 pm to facilitate people travelling towards Park Street.
