Kolkata Metro Green Line Extension in Phase II
The West Bengal government has proposed an extension of the Green Line. As per the proposal, the East-West Metro will have 3 terminating stations at Howrah Maidan, Salt Lake Sector-V and the proposed Teghoria station. At Teghoria, it will be connected to the Orange Line going to the airport and will have interconnection facilities. The Green Line is extended from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V. It is a 13.6 km long section, consisting of 13 stations. It also includes an underwater tunnel under the Hooghly River between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake, the first project of its kind in India. The extension is part of the wider Kolkata Metro expansion, which will add several kilometres to the network by the end of 2026 and integrate the Green Line with other lines to boost connectivity across the city.

The first train from Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram will depart at 9:40 pm, followed by trains at 9:52 pm, 10:05 pm, and 10:18 pm. Return trains from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar are scheduled at 9:54 pm, 10:04 pm, and 10:17 pm, with the last additional train departing from Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 10:30 pm.

On New Year's Eve, eight special services will run on the Blue Line after 9:40 PM. These include four northbound and four southbound trains. These extra services will run between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram. From south to Shahid Khudiram, the extra trains will depart at 9:40 PM, 9:52 PM, 10:05 PM, and 10:18 PM. In the other direction, from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar, the trains are scheduled for 9:54 PM, 10:04 PM, and 10:17 PM. Additionally, a special service will run from Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 10:30 PM, providing an extra option for northbound passengers. All eight special services will commence after 9:40 PM, extending the Blue Line's operating hours for the day.
