Jaipur Metro Orange Line to be Extended in Phase 2
For Phase 2, officials have prepared a proposal for the Orange Line. The line will have a total length of 23.099 km (14.353 mi) and will include 20 stations. Five of these stations will be underground, while 15 will be elevated. The line will connect the Sitapura Industrial Area in the south to Ambabari in the north, and will pass through major areas such as Ajmeri Gate and MI Road. However, the plan may undergo changes to improve its service life before construction begins.

Following the receipt of central approval for the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project, the pace of work has been further accelerated. This 41-kilometer-long metro corridor will feature 36 stations, with a total estimated cost of ₹13,500 crore—of which the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a loan of approximately ₹6,565 crore to Rajasthan.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming urban mobility in the Rajasthan capital. The project involves the development of a 41-kilometer north-south metro corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mor, with 36 stations, at an estimated cost of ₹13,037.66 crore. The first phase of Jaipur's existing metro system covers 11.64 kilometers on the east-west corridor from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar and has 11 stations. The second phase will further expand the network by adding a north-south axis, creating a more comprehensive transportation system across the city.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi may lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the Jaipur Metro during his proposed visit to Ajmer. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, Metro officials have begun preparations. Prime Minister Modi's visit to Ajmer is scheduled for February 28.
