- The Orange Line of the Kanpur Metro, also known as Line 1, is a major part of the city's metro network and the first line to be operational.
- The first phase of the line, which is 9 km (5.6 mi) in length and is completely elevated, was launched in December 2021.
- This priority section includes a total of 9 stations. The total length of the entire line will be 23.8 km, of which 15.2 km will be elevated and 8.6 km underground.

Kanpur Metro Network Orange Line Extension in Phase 1
The Orange Line extension project of Kanpur Metro is planned to extend to 23.8 km with 21 stations, of which 14 will be elevated and 7 underground. The line will pass through major areas such as Rawatpur, Motijheel, Bada Chauraha, and Naubasta. Construction work is in progress and the entire line is expected to be operational by June 2026.

Kanpur Metro has achieved a significant milestone in the underground section of Corridor 1 (IIT to Naubasta). Construction of the "Up-Line" tunnel has been completed, connecting Kanpur Central to Naubasta via Jhankarkati and Transport Nagar stations and connecting the entire underground section. This underground corridor will make travel to Kanpur even more convenient.
