Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL) conducted the first successful trial run through the westbound tunnel of the Kolkata Metro's Green Line in West Bengal, India, on the Sealdah-Esplanade section, which has only one station, Bowbazar. Once operational, the Sealdah-Esplanade section is expected to provide an advanced transport system for the people of Kolkata and its suburbs. It helps people to reach Kolkata and surrounding areas from Sealdah and Howrah.
◷ 2025-01-22 | ☍Hindustan SamacharCommunication-based train control signalling work for the entire Howrah Maidan to Sector V section of Kolkata Metro's East-West Metro began on 12 January 2025, a landmark step towards connecting Howrah to Sealdah, two of the busiest stations of Eastern Railway. The East-West Metro, also known as the Green Line, will save around 90 minutes for daily commuters.

The last train from New Garia to Dum Dum (Blue Line) will run at 11 pm instead of 10 pm to facilitate people travelling towards Park Street. The last train from Dakshineswar will leave for New Garia at 10.53 pm. Services will run at an interval of 7 minutes from 3 pm to 8 pm. On December 25, the Metro will operate a total of 224 services (112 up and 112 down) throughout the day, starting at 6.50 am.
◷ 2024-12-24 | ☍NDTVKolkata Metro services on the Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor were partially disrupted after a man jumped in front of a train at Sovabazar station. Services were delayed by 35 minutes but resumed normal operations by 4:45 pm.
◷ 2024-12-23 | ☍JagranKolkata Metro will operate four special services (two up and two down) on the Blue Line for SET candidates on December 15. The first two special services will depart from Kavi Subhash station at 08:00 am and 08:30 am towards Dakshineswar.
◷ 2024-12-13 | ☍Financial ExpressThe Metro Railway has announced that from December 10, passengers travelling in the Kolkata Metro after 10:40 pm will have to pay an extra fare of Rs 10. Passengers who earlier paid a fare of ₹5 for just one stop or a minimum distance of 2 km will now have to pay ₹15. Similarly, those who earlier paid a fare of ₹25 will now have to shell out ₹35. This change applies to the Dum Dum-New Garia section of the North-South Corridor, where the 'Night Special' service is operational from May 24, 2024.

From the 11 November metro services in the west-bound tunnel will operate between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran stations. This change will apply during working hours on weekdays, from 6:55 am to 10 pm On Sundays, metro services in the east-bound tunnel will run from 2:15 pm to 9:50 pm, as per the revised schedule.

That means the allocation has decreased by 9.4 percent from last year's budget.

The station, spread over 30,000 square metres, now has a grand look except for the shaft area. The interior, featuring colorful frescoes, paintings and panels, has an "esplanade" as the theme, with depictions of trams. There are 20 escalators and eight lifts to transport passengers from a depth of 28 metres.
