- The Orange Line of the Nagpur Metro, also known as the North–South Corridor is part of the mass rapid transit system in Nagpur.
- It is the first line of Nagpur Metro and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 March 2019.
- Nagpur Metro Line 1 runs from Khapri to Sitabuldi, covering a distance of approximately 13.5 kilometres.
- It has 20 metro stations from Automotive Square to Metro City, out of which 15 stations are elevated and 5 stations are at grade. Sitabuldi station is an inter-change station.
- The average inter-station distance is 1.20 km which varies from about 0.54 km to 2.4 km depending on the site, operational and traffic requirements.
Nagpur Metro Orange Line Extension in Phase 2
The Orange Line (Line 1) of the Nagpur Metro is being expanded in the second phase. The northern extension, Reach 2A, will stretch 13 km from Automotive Square to the Kanhan River, with 12 elevated stations that will improve accessibility to north Nagpur. The southern extension, Reach 1A, will add 18.7 km from Khapri to Butibori MIDC ESR, with 10 stations connecting industrial and suburban areas. This project is planned to be completed by November 2027.

MahaMetro has deployed 15 launching girders in the under-construction Phase-II extension of the Nagpur Metro, and officials claim this could be the highest number of launchers deployed for a metro project of similar length anywhere in India. The latest achievement in this area was achieved with the commissioning of the fifth launching girder in the Khapri-Butibori section (Reach-1A), aimed at expediting viaduct construction work on the corridor.
Savner MLA Ashish Deshmukh proposed extending the upcoming Nagpur Metro Phase-III corridor from Koradi to Khaparkheda. Deshmukh met with MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar to present the proposal and formally discuss its feasibility.
MahaMetro has finalised a new corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi under Nagpur Metro Phase 3, as part of the city’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP). The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on 27 July 2025 attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and senior officials.
While the construction of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 is progressing at a steady pace, a new metro corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi has been finalised under Nagpur Metro Phase 3. The route is a part of the recently unveiled Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) that aims to enhance connectivity in the city.
Colossus Infra Projects Pvt Ltd will provide train operation and station control services for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project for a period of 2 years (730 days). Colossus Infra Projects Pvt Ltd has received this contract from Maha-Metro (Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation). The value of the contract is Rs 21.2 crore. The Nagpur Metro Rail Project will be completed in two phases. Currently, the first phase of Nagpur Metro is fully operational, while the second phase is under construction.
