The Birla Temple is situated atop a hill called Naubath Pahar, which is a part of the larger Hussain Sagar lake complex. This temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. It is constructed from 2000 tons of pure white marble. The granite idol of the presiding deity Lord Venkateshwara is about 11 feet (3.4 m) high and has a carved lotus at the top forming a canopy. The temple complex has a brass flagpole that rises to a height of 42 feet (13 m). The temple does not have traditional bells, as Swami Ranganathananda wished that the atmosphere of the temple should be conducive to meditation.
