Red Line History, Facts & Expansion

  • The Red Line is the first corridor (Corridor 1) of the Patna Metro, connecting Danapur Cantonment to Khemnichak.
  • It is approximately 16.86 km long, with 9.36 km elevated and 7.5 km underground, connecting Danapur Cantonment to Khemnichak.
  • This corridor has a combination of elevated and underground stations. It will have 14 stations.
  • The maximum speed of metro trains on the Red Line is 80 km/h.
  • Most of Corridor 1 is underground due to the Rupaspur Railway Overbridge (ROB) and the Jagdevpath-Sheikhpura Mor flyover.
  • The 8 km (4.97 mi) underground section of Line 1, extending from Rukunpura station to Patna Junction station, has not yet been allotted.
  • The entire Red Line is expected to be completed by 2027, and some sections of it have already been opened for public use.
