Lucknow Metro Blue Line Overview

The Blue Line is Lucknow Metro's approved East-West corridor, planned to run about 11.2 km from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj with 12 stations through the old city. It will serve Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical College, Chowk and Thakurganj, combining underground and elevated sections. The Union Cabinet approved it in August 2025 at about Rs 5,801 crore, with completion targeted around 2029-30. Blue Line History, Facts & Expansion

The Blue Line, also called Phase 1B or the East-West corridor, will run from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj.
It is planned to be about 11.2 km long with 12 stations.
About 7 stations will be underground through the dense old city, and the rest elevated.
The Union Cabinet approved the project in August 2025 at an estimated cost of about Rs 5,801 crore.
It will serve Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, King George's Medical University and Chowk areas.
It will interchange with the Red Line at Charbagh.
Completion is targeted around 2029-30.
It will be Lucknow's first metro to pass through the old city's narrow lanes underground.
The state government first approved the project in January 2024.
It is implemented by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).
It will serve tourist sites such as Bara Imambara and Rumi Darwaza area.
