केंद्रीय बजट 2026-27 में परियोजना के लिए 1,450 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए जाने से लखनऊ मेट्रो के दूसरे चरण को बड़ा प्रोत्साहन मिला है , जिससे आने वाले महीनों में निर्माण कार्य शुरू होने का मार्ग प्रशस्त हो गया है। अधिकारियों को उम्मीद है कि चारबाग-बसंत कुंज कॉरिडोर पर काम तीन महीने के भीतर शुरू हो जाएगा, और निविदाएं पहले ही अंतिम रूप दे दी गई हैं। फेज II (फेज-1बी) कॉरिडोर चारबाग से बसंत कुंज तक 11.16 किलोमीटर की दूरी तय करेगा। इस कॉरिडोर में 12 स्टेशन होंगे, जिनमें सात भूमिगत और पांच एलिवेटेड स्टेशन शामिल हैं।

The contract includes the design and construction of the main line elevated viaduct from Thakurganj Metro Station to Vasant Kunj Metro Station (approximately 4.6 km in length including the station), including the construction of ramps (approximately 740.00 m) connecting the viaduct and the entry/exit points of the depot, and the construction of five elevated metro stations, namely Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musabagh, and Vasant Kunj. This includes civil works, associated ancillary structures, PEB structures, architectural works, water supply, sanitation, drainage, external development, fire fighting, and repair and maintenance work. This work will be carried out under Phase 1B of the Lucknow Metro in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Additionally, the plan proposes a 150-kilometer network each in Noida-Greater Noida, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. 50 kilometers of metro network are planned in key districts such as Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Meerut. Approximately 790 kilometers of this metro infrastructure is targeted to be completed by 2035. Emphasizing the project's financial viability, Kumar stated that the state government's annual contribution for the initial 525 kilometers of expansion will be ₹1,040 crore.
