It is India's oldest aquarium and one of the main tourist attractions of city. It houses marine and freshwater fisheries. Situated in the posh locality of Marine Drive, this aquarium has large tanks made with high-quality Flexi glass for clear visibility. There are sharks, sea turtles, trigger fishes, small starfish, moray eels, stingrays along with other unique species of fish. A special section of "plantation aquarium" is developed that features imported varieties of water lilies and other varieties of rare aquatic plants. Another attraction is "island aquarium, oceanarium, and an amphitheater in its tropical section.
