  • Hyderabad Metro Line 2, also known as the Green Line, is part of the Hyderabad Metro.
  • The line is 27 km long and spans 23 stations from Nagole to Rayadurg.
  • A special purpose vehicle company, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (L&TMRHL), was set up by construction company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to develop the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
  • Line 2 provides important interchanges with other metro lines at important stations such as MG Bus Station (interchange with Line 1 – Red Line) and Parade Ground (interchange with Line 3 – Blue Line).
  • The 16.8 kilometers (10.4 mi) length of the Blue Line with 14 stations from Nagole to Ameerpet was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 November 2017.
  • A 10 km section with 8 stations between Ameerpet and HITEC City was opened on 20 March 2019.

केंद्रीय कोयला और खान मंत्री जी. किशन रेड्डी ने रविवार को कहा कि हैदराबाद मेट्रो रेल परियोजना के दूसरे चरण के लिए धन जारी करने का निर्णय तेलंगाना सरकार द्वारा इस उद्देश्य से गठित समिति के माध्यम से एल एंड टी के साथ विलय प्रस्ताव पर चर्चा पूरी करने और अंतिम निर्णय लेने के बाद ही लिया जाएगा। उन्होंने नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों से कहा कि राज्य सरकार को पहले हैदराबाद मेट्रो रेल के पहले चरण पर अपना रुख स्पष्ट करना होगा, इसके अधिग्रहण से संबंधित सभी औपचारिकताएं पूरी करनी होंगी और वित्तीय सहायता की प्रक्रिया शुरू होने से पहले एक उचित विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट (डीपीआर) प्रस्तुत करनी होगी।

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has written to Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, seeking his intervention to expedite the central government's final approval for the long-pending Phase 2 of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project. In the letter to the Union Minister, Revanth Reddy stated that the central government had granted in-principle approval to the project through a letter dated January 15, 2026. That letter also proposed the formation of a joint committee of central and state officials, with Telangana nominated to nominate two members. This joint committee will oversee the transfer process for Phase 1 of the Hyderabad Metro.

The Telangana government has decided to expedite the process of acquiring the Phase-I project of the Hyderabad Metro Rail from Larsen & Toubro and expedite the formalities to complete the acquisition as soon as possible. On September 25, the Telangana government signed an agreement with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMHRL) for the complete acquisition of the existing Phase-I of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project after L&T decided to exit the project due to mounting losses. Under the agreement, the state government agreed to assume L&T's existing debt of around Rs 13,000 crore as well as return Rs 2,000 crore to the company as a one-time settlement of its equity investment.

Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has moved to strengthen its rolling stock capacity by launching a plan to procure 60 additional metro coaches, although approval for the second phase of the project is still awaited. The government agency has sought government approval to issue a tender for the new six-coach train sets, and intends to take this step without linking the purchase to the approval of the second phase.
