  • The Hyderabad Metro Red Line, also known as Corridor 1, began operations on 29 November 2017. This was the first operational line of Hyderabad Metro.
  • The line is 29.21 km long and spans 27 stations from Miyapur to LB Nagar.
  • A special purpose vehicle company, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (L&TMRHL), was set up by construction company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to develop the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
  • Trains arrive every 5–10 minutes during peak hours and every 10–15 minutes during non-peak hours, providing a frequency tailored to passenger needs.
  • The Red Line is planned to be extended beyond both its terminals under the second phase of the metro development project. From LB Nagar it is being extended to Hayat Nagar, while from Miyapur it will connect Patancheru.

Hyderabad Metro Red Line Extension in Phase 2

The Hyderabad Metro's Red Line, which currently operates from Miyapur to LB Nagar, is proposed for expansion under Phase 2. Under this plan, the Red Line will be extended by about 12 km from Miyapur to Patancheru and 5 km from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar.

7 new stations will be built between Miyapur to Patancheru and 4 new stations between LB Nagar to Hayathnagar. It will be completely elevated.

Also, it will facilitate interchange with other metro lines. The project is targeted to be completed by 2028.

To reach Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) from Hyderabad Metro Red Line, take the metro to Ameerpet station, switch to Blue Line towards Raidurg, and then take Pushpak Airport Shuttle from Raidurg Metro Station to the airport.

There is a proposal to extend the Red Line beyond LB Nagar towards Hayatnagar, but no official timeline has been confirmed.

To switch from Red Line of Hyderabad Metro to Green Line, you can go to MG Bus Station (MGBS), which is a major interchange station connecting both the lines.

  • 2026-03-17 - As the state government races against time to take over the first phase of the 69.2-km Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) by the end of this month, its special purpose vehicle, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), has begun planning a new system to improve last-mile connectivity. The proposal is to build an advanced, battery-powered pod transport system.

  • 2026-02-01 - Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday said the decision to release funds for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project will be taken only after the Telangana government completes discussions and takes a final decision on the merger proposal with L&T through a committee formed for the purpose. He told reporters in New Delhi that the state government will first have to clarify its stand on the first phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, complete all formalities related to its acquisition and submit a proper detailed project report (DPR) before the process of financial assistance can begin.
