Aqua Line History, Facts & Expansion

The Aqua Line of Pune Metro is the second line of the city's public transport network.
This line is completely elevated, extending for 14.66 km with 16 stations.
It connects with the Purple Line and Line 3 at Civil Court Interchange station.
The maintenance depot of the Aqua Line is located near Vanaz station on the former garbage depot land.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi section of Pune Metro Line 2 on March 6, 2024.
The Aqua Line was designed to interchange with other lines of the Ahmedabad Metro, thereby increasing the connectivity of the overall metro network.
The Aqua Line uses the Alstom Urbalis 400 communications-based train control (CBTC) signaling system.

Pune Metro Aqua Line Extension in Phase 2

The expansion of Pune Metro's Aqua Line will include a new station at Bhusari Colony between Vanaz and Chandni Chowk. The station at Chandni Chowk will be named after the Shivsrushti project. This project is a major step towards further expanding the Pune Metro network. The expansion is expected to be completed by 2029.
