About Southern Ridge Forest
The Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary near Tughlakabad in Delhi, the southern ridge, is the best protected area of the Delhi Ridge. This wildlife sanctuary showcases the best of the flora and fauna of the ridge; Most of Delhi's native tree and plant species can be found here, as well as nearly 200 species of animals (including mammals, birds, butterflies and insects). Some species of animals that were abundant in Delhi about 100 years ago are now found only in the Asola region such as nilgai, blackbuck, black-naped rabbit, porcupine, civet, jackal and jungle cat. The Kshini Ridge Forest is home to a wide variety of plant species including native trees, shrubs and wild flowers.

The southern ridge is spread over 6200 hectares and includes the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, Bandhwari and Mangar Bani forests. It is the least urban of the 4 sections of the ridge, but much of it is village-owned or privately owned agricultural land.
